Why Clearing Programming Is SO IMPORTANT

http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/positivelypositive/positive/~3/rQwKuPVFd-Q/

We all have a Mother.

However, we are not all Mothers.

Back when I was very heavy (I released 100 lbs. over 31 years ago), I remember the first time someone asked me how many months “along” I was and I had to explain, “I am not pregnant”.

I was crushed.

This happened to me repeatedly.

The truth? Inside I called myself “a big fat pig” and felt humiliated beyond words about myself and my body.

Some of our mothers’ may have detested their bodies while we were in their womb.

Studies indicate that we are deeply impacted by our pre-birth experiences and I strongly believe we hold onto those throughout our lives.

The good news is YOU CAN heal from this programming at any age, weight or decade of your life. I did.

So, if you feel badly about how you look and make excuses for not making necessary changes…this is the example you are setting for yourself and others.

You can take action right this moment.

It is possible for you to feel:

  • completely at home in your body and let go of that Mom programming (she was doing the best she could with her programming)
  • love for yourself in every way possible

It starts with small, simple steps.

In honor of my JULY (6th) birthday right around the corner, I am offering an opportunity for more of you to take action steps to welcome the love that you are.

If you are ready to raise your energy and undo more of your blocks to self-acceptance, self-care and self-love, please consider joining us.

And please use the comment section below to share one way you express self-love to yourself on a regular basis.

The world needs more love so your comment will inspire someone else.

Science Confirms People Behave Better When They Think They’re Being Watched

https://themindunleashed.com/2019/07/science-confirms-people-behave-better-when-watched.html

People Behave Better Being Watched

(CONVERSATION) — If there exists one moral code that can be shared and agreed by almost all cultures and religions, then it must be the concept of “never impose on others what you would not choose for yourself”. This has come to be known as “the golden rule”.

But do people in modern societies really follow the teaching of this principle, especially when there are financial consequences to their actions? Our research brought this question into the laboratory and set out to answer it with a simple game of bargaining.

We invited 300 people to the laboratory at the Centre for Experimental Economics at the University of York to make a series of decisions regarding the split of a fixed amount of money between themselves and another anonymous person in the room. The idea was participants would be required to split an amount of money between themselves and another participant –- with one person in the pair deciding how much they both should get. This was then relayed to a third party who put the offer to the participant.

Each participant could offer their partner anything from zero to the full amount in whole pounds. If the partner said “yes” to the offer, they both received the money. But if the other person rejected the offer (as they felt it was not enough), this would result in a breakdown of the negotiation, meaning both got nothing from this round of the game.

Each participant would in turn experience both roles (the proposer, who makes the offers and the responder, who needs to respond to the offers) with multiple different partners. This increased the chance that one person in the responder role would need to respond to the same offer they made when they acted as the proposer.

What we were particularly interested in was how people would react when they played the responder’s role and were confronted with the same proposal they themselves made. If someone is playing by the golden rule, then they should have no problem being on the receiving end saying “yes” to the offers that equal the ones they made And indeed, we found that most people’s behaviour conforms to the golden rule – in that about 93% of people would say yes to the offers that equal what they proposed to others.

Being watched

As the saying goes, one good turn deserves another, and in our experiment, it seemed this was true. Those people who followed the golden rule earned more from the negotiations, compared to the people who chose to go against the golden rule.

But while the figure of 93% indicates that most people followed the golden rule, which sounds encouraging, we found that if people knew their behaviour was not being observed by their opponents, then the percentage of golden rule behaviour dropped by nearly 20%, and only 73% of participants stuck to the rule.

This finding echoes observations from social psychology that show people behave in a nicer way when they know they are being watched. Indeed, even a poster with eyes on it changes how people behave. And it seems when the chance of being observed is low, people are more prone to evade a moral code.

Thinking it over

We found contemplation matters in how people made their decisions. Those who took longer to decide how to split the money were more likely to stray from the golden rule. This may well be because the golden rule is easy to apply, so a longer decision time might reflect the sophisticated nature of the person who is taking a variety of (possibly competing) factors into the decision making process.

We found experience played a small role in people’s decision making too. Those who played the proposer’s role first were slightly more likely to be a golden rule follower, compared to those who first played the responder’s role.

We found that gender, socio-economic status or cultural factors didn’t make a difference to the golden rule behaviour, which verifies its universality. We also found that people’s golden rule behaviour was not driven by their monetary pursuit – which might come as a surprise – but rather it is the power of the moral code itself that drives the behaviour. This is in part down to the notion of “projection bias”, where people have the tendency to project their own thoughts, preferences, and behaviour onto other people – so the idea of unevenly splitting a sum of money while the other person is sitting right in front of you seems problematic.

What this all shows is that so-called “good behaviour” is dependant on a number of factors –- including whether a person believes they are being observed, or not. This indicates that although most people do follow some form of moral code, to what extent they abide by these rules does differ situation to situation.

Confession: Rosé is basically my staple summer drink.

I mean what’s not to love?!  It’s crisp, refreshing and sure looks pretty poured in your glass so of course I had to make this into slushy form!  Adult slushies are THE BEST and the addition of grapefruit makes everything that much better.  Grapefruit tastes delicious with rosé making this drink the perfect poolside companion this summer!

As most of you know, I recently gave birth to my sweet Emma Rose a few weeks ago so I’m slowly allowing myself to finally enjoy some wine here and there…..you know, after 9 months!  So this recipe comes at the perfect time and only tastes that much sweeter!

The Fast Car Called Grief

http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/positivelypositive/positive/~3/tT92sokDF0E/

What started as a new direction towards a better every day life for myself has brought in a completely different identity.

I went from driving as fast as I could go to moving almost backwards.

Stopping a fast car is one of the most vulnerable and courageous things we could do.

Why?

Because we have to be ok with not belonging, with not fitting in with our family, friends and neighbors.

Being ok with disappointing others.

Risking love.

Money. Financial freedom.

Success.

Risking it all for what?

For the most priceless thing in the world.

TIME.

I have to tell you I wish I had all these insights earlier.

But grief and fear put you inside a really fast car.

With blinders on your left and right.

With one thing in mind.

Not feeling grief or joy.

As both are dangerous to someone who lost a lot.

So you are in this car driving away from everything, even the things you crave for because you are afraid of losing them all again.

Your mind is telling you that it is possibly better to have nothing and lose nothing than have it all and lose it all.

You do everything you can to not be in this position again.

This fast car you are driving makes your pain numb and misses all the opportunities for joy.

But here is what happens. The faster you go the worse everything gets.

Numbness doesn’t lead to less pain.

It leads to severe depression.

Because when a person who is made to feel everything tries to feel nothing is like extracting their own DNA and burying it in the ground.

When I stopped my very fast car (which by the way has been driving for over a decade at a lightening speed) I had no idea who I was.

There is a step in my Life Reentry model that is about discovery and unless we discover the new identity we can not reenter life.

I have put myself through this process many times.

I can honestly tell you this reentry is so different to all the others.

It has had the biggest surprises.

The most invisible losses.

And some dark nights.

Maybe not the darkest but certainly unexpected darkness.

Unexpected darkness can be more dangerous than regular darkness.

We never see it coming.

I will end this letter by saying this:

If you are running fast, trying to numb yourself from everything good and bad, please promise me you will hit the breaks however much it hurts. @SecondFirsts (Click to Tweet!)

The pain from stopping the car will subside and you will be able to breathe again.

You will begin to cry the tears you couldn’t while you were speeding.

And feel the pain of your old life so that the new life has a chance to begin.

With many breaks and a new creative identity,

Christina
