We’re Back! Kind of?

If it looks a little different it’s because we’re like the Phoenix, rising up from the ashes.

I never knew how ignorant of this blog/internet stuff I was.

I wake up one morning and everything is gone.

I noticed that I wasn’t getting activity.

So I decided to logon to the site.

The wonderful joy of the situation continued as I logged into a blank site.
Actually, couldn’t log on, got a 404 error, Not Found!
(HTTP 404. The HTTP 404, 404 Not Found and 404 (pronounced “four oh four”) error message is a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) standard response code, in computer network communications, to indicate that the client was able to communicate with a given server, but the server could not find what was requested.)

Let me describe blank to you: as void of all previously existing content.

That included posts, videos, comments, and the best of all the total website configuration information.

NADA!

So, as the master webmaster, I tried to restore the site from my backups. Which led to another unhappy realization.  The full story is in another post I’m working on called “Test Your Backups, Before You Need Them!” I go into glittering detail of my misadventure.

So, I guess I got hacked. I really don’t know.
I’m sure we’re all aware the Internet has a “DARK SIDE”too!

Contacted my hosting company and they didn’t register any unusual activity. registered

So, I ‘m in in the process of rebuilding the site from scratch.

The first thing you’ll notice the site is now secure: http://spilt-milk.net:
HTTP VS HTTPS
Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) is the secure version of HTTP, the protocol over which data is sent between your browser and the website that you are connected to. The ‘S’ at the end of HTTPS stands for ‘Secure’. It means all communications between your browser and the website are encrypted. HTTPS is often used to protect highly confidential online transactions like online banking and online shopping order forms.” Web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome also display a padlock icon in the address bar to visually indicate that a HTTPS connection is in effect.

So, I’m starting with restoring all the original posts and pages and growing from there. Once that’s done I star with new stuff again.

However, this adventure has created a new monster. For lack of a better way to put it, now I need to know how all this web stuff works

So, thanks for visiting and subscribing to the site and follow on the adventure.
