This post is sponsored by Aidells Sausage Company, Inc.  All comments and opinions are my own.

Summer is my absolute favorite time of the year which means it’s officially GRILLING season!  Our grill is always in constant use during the spring/summer months because it’s just so easy to use with little clean-up and I don’t know about you, but everything just tastes so much better coming off of the grill!  Not only can you grill chicken, fish, steak, kabobs, I mean you name it, but guys, grilling pizza might just be the best thing you do all season.

One of my favorite things to do in the summer is host events in our backyard and since building our home last year, having friends and family over has been the best part of our move!  If you follow me on Instagram then you know how I love to throw a good party and with that comes making delicious food!  Grilling is essential for an outdoor gathering and it’s nice to mix things up sometimes.  Instead of serving up the usual summer favorites, having your guests make their own personal pizzas can be way more fun!

When deciding on pizza toppings I am ALL about flavor combinations which is why I knew I needed Aidells® Dinner Sausage on my pizza.  I’ve been a huge fan of Aidells sausage links for quite a while now not only because they are crafted in small batches using the highest quality of meats and all-natural ingredients, but they are also made with no added hormones or nitrites so you can really feel good about what you are eating!

Aidells carries several delicious products all with unexpected flavor combinations such as bacon mushroom swiss, sun dried tomato with mozzarella, Cajun style andouille and even habanero with pepper jack cheese.  For this particular recipe I used Aidells smoked chicken and apple sausage links that contain their trademark spice blend along with delicious chunks of apple in every bite!

As you can see above, for a limited time, each package of Aidells sausage links currently has a sticker containing a unique summer recipe so make sure to look for that on the packaging the next time you’re at the store!

To really bring out that apple flavor in this sausage, I topped each pizza with some fresh apple slices along with goat cheese, baby arugula and finished it off with a drizzle of sweet honey vinaigrette.  If you’re not a fan of goat cheese, feel free to use some gorgonzola (which tastes delicious with apples!), burrata or really any cheese you prefer.  This pizza turned out incredible and was the perfect sweet and savory combination!

If you’re making pizza at a backyard cookout or even on a camping trip, it’s important that you pre-chop all of your toppings ahead of time.  I pre-sliced all the apples and put each of the toppings into individual containers so that assembly would be nice and easy for everyone!  We grilled the chicken sausage right there on the grill and sliced it up right before adding it to the pizzas.

To make the honey vinaigrette, I whisked together a little olive oil, some honey, Dijon mustard and fresh lemon juice and drizzled it over top of the pizza and arugula which really gave the pizza a sweet, fresh taste!  If you have any extra dressing left over, make sure to save it because it tastes great on salads too.  I actually make this vinaigrette a lot which is why I wanted to use it on this pizza.  A definite tried and true dressing that just tastes delicious on everything!

Now if you thought that was easy to make, grilling the actual pizza is even easier!  To keep things simple we used naan flatbreads that were brushed with a little olive oil.  Naan crisps up so nicely on the grill and is the perfect size for individual pizzas.  The key though to a good grilled pizza is placing the toppings on the pizza while it sits on the grill!  You’ll want to grill the naan first before adding any toppings, about 2 to 3 minutes per side, until you see some nice char marks and this is also a good time to go ahead and cook your sausage.  Then once the naan is ready, just add your cooked sausage, apple slices and goat cheese grilling for an additional 4 to 6 minutes until the cheese is nice and gooey!  Easy right??

This pizza is definitely a new summer favorite and one I can really enjoy eating because of all the fresh flavors and quality ingredients.  I purchased all of these ingredients at my local Safeway. You can easily find your closest Safeway store on their store finder here!  Safeway offers tons of delicious summer recipe inspiration so make sure to check them out!

So whether you’re hosting a backyard party or planning a fun camping trip with friends, this grilled pizza with sausage, apple and goat cheese is sure to be a winner with your family this summer!  Hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we did!

How to Create MORE of Your Most Valuable Resource: TIME!

http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/positivelypositive/positive/~3/Msc9j4WrV80/

Time is fluid.

It rolls, it slows down, it speeds up…it can seemingly stand still.

We experience the magic of time in many different ways.

It’s one thing every one of us on this planet has in common but it can be something we all perceive differently.

For us biz bosses, time is valuable. It’s your greatest asset.

Sometimes we have productive days where everything gets done and you’re left to bask in the afterglow of a complete to-do list.

But most days, it feels like there’s not enough time in the world to do all the things.

At times, we’re left wanting more time and in other instances, wanting less.

It’s critical to consciously create the time and space we need in our lives and our businesses so we can live happy and oh so healthy lives.

Following my dreams and running my own biz means endless to-do lists, daily meetings, calls and messages.

It means there is ALWAYS something to do.

I’m continuously taking action and making decisions not just for myself but for the amazing people I get to lead.

It’s exhilarating and I love it but I also need to manage it like a boss so it doesn’t manage me.

If you’re just starting out, time can feel ESPECIALLY crazy.

You have a million thoughts in your head, a million things to do…and you may be doing it with a toddler running around your knees or while juggling two part-time jobs.

Believe me, I’ve been there.

So I’m here to help.

Let’s get you consciously creating your own time and space so you can make the most of it, start seeing results and achieve that next level of success.

Focus, focus, focus.

I know sometimes that can be easier said than done.

Especially when my 9-year-old Madeline is running around giggling, my cellphone is going off and I’m rushing to Pilates in the morning.

But it CAN be done.

And the best way to focus is to make a to-do list. Every day.

Write down your list of things to in order of importance. Don’t overdo it either. Focus on three tasks that HAVE to get done that day.

Throughout the day, consult your list and check off things as you go.

Not only does this give you a sense of accomplishment, it fires you up to keep going.

Rinse and Repeat…every day.

Another trick is to block off time in your calendar for tasks.

Have you been trying to write the copy for your new website for the last six months and you just never seem to be able to get to it?

Then block off time every Monday for the next month, set aside two hours and during those two hours, turn off your phone and get to work. 🙂

Seriously though, running your own biz requires a great deal of self-motivation. And sometimes you gots-to-be THE boss and tell yourself to get the heck to work.

Eliminate those pesky distractions and tap into a flow state

Ping. Ping. Ping. Beep. Ring…

My husband Wes yelling at me that dinner was ready an hour ago….

Haha…IT. NEVER. STOPS.

I’m sure you feel me.

Sometimes, you just have to turn it all off. Your phone, your laptop, even your Roomba… I actually highly recommend it.

My phone is my lifeline because I basically use it while running every aspect of my biz, but it can be a MASSIVE distraction.

If you’re distracted while trying to complete a task, you’re not going to produce anything you’ll be proud of. @hayleyhobson (Click to Tweet!)

Hearing the pings and beeps and rings all day long can give you a one-way ticket to crazy town.

Got a blog to write? Turn your phone off…put it another room….whatever you have to do to eliminate the distraction.

If you have kids…it’s a lot more difficult to eliminate distractions, but it can be done.

Can you get a friend to watch them for a couple of hours a day? Can you make a work agreement with your partner? Can you get the most pressing stuff done while your little one is in school or daycare?

I know it’s hard. But you can do this.

Set aside time for your best friend: self care

Okay….consciously-creating-time-rule-numero-uno….you’re no good to yourself, your clients, your family or anyone else if you’re stressed.

Yes, you have to do your invoicing, yes you have healthy lunches to make for your kids, yes you have three meetings today that you’re not fully prepared for…. STOP.

Take a big deep breath and picture yourself as a tiny little speck on a massive planet floating around in space.

For real!

And then I want you to untie the knot in your belly, slow down your heart rate using your breath and realize you are doing your best.

And nothing you do or don’t have time to get to will make the planet stop spinning.

Self care is so important because it will make your work ten times more productive.

If you’re practicing self-love on the daily, you shouldn’t get to the point where you’re feeling overwhelmed.

Take a bath. Read a book. Go for a hike in nature. Stare at a white wall.

Whatever you need to do to chill out and get centered…block off time for it in your calendar as you would any other task on your to-do list.

Your business, and your family and friends, will thank you for it.

Should You Have Sex or Make Love?

Several fellow Christian authors and bloggers have written about how couples should “make love” not “have sex.” These are colleagues I respect and admire, and I agree entirely with the principle underlying their point.

However, I’ve wondered if it really matters in common conversation. I’ve certainly talked about having sex in my own marriage, as one phrase among many options we have to describe our meaningful sexual intimacy. It would feel odd for me to label it as making love every time. In fact, my husband has been known to initiate in such unromantic ways as “Are we going to copulate today?” (His defense is “hey, it worked.”) Yet I still understand how meaningful sex is to him.

With this in mind, I posted to my closed Facebook group, outlining the issue and asking: What do you think about using “having sex”? Is it really important to you that you, your spouse, or others call it “making love?”

Here what I learned.

People have varied perspectives and preferences.

I cannot advise readers to use one phrase over another, because your spouse might see it differently. Among the answers I got were:

  • making love applies to the whole of sexual activities in the marriage bed while having sex is intercourse
  • making love feels cheesy and uncomfortable while having sex sounds more natural
  • having sex feels more shallow than making love
  • making love is long, slow, and passionate while having sex is fast-paced and pleasure-driven

And plenty said you can call it whatever you like, it’s always making love because that’s how their marriage bed feels.

The specific language matters a great deal to some—and not necessarily in one way or the other—and not as much to others. Whatever you call sexual intimacy in your marriage, however, it should sound respectful and attractive to your spouse. So ask what they like. You might find out it matters more than you thought or less than you thought.

Culture and generation are factors in word choice.

I remember talking to my sons once about what body parts are called these days…and being astounded by the common use of a word that has no negative connotation in their generation but certainly does in mine. Who’s right on this one? Well, we have to consider culture and context in word choices. In my culture, that label would be a no-go; in theirs, it’s not a big deal.

As it turns out, this appears to be true with making love and having sex—with several younger couples saying making love sounded weird, like a euphemism for people who can’t bring themselves to say the actual words. Now that’s not true of everyone their age, but it’s an interesting perspective.

Some phrases for sex might appeal to people from one region or in one generation or with one background while other phrases appeal to those from different regions, generations, and backgrounds. As an example, references to being “ridden” as part of sex don’t bother me a bit, maybe because I’m a Texan who’s ridden horses, enjoyed rodeos, and seen the affection a rider and the ridden can have. Yet for someone else, that phrase could feel understandably disrespectful. Culture and context matter.

Spouses want sex to be pleasurable and meaningful.

Whatever you call it, spouses want sex to be both pleasurable and meaningful. The point colleagues have made about making love > having sex gets at this very point. While I don’t see the importance of the phrasing the way they do, I agree entirely that sex should be more than a physical act. It should involve our whole selves—body, mind, heart, and soul.

The responses I got from the group members demonstrate this desire. Husbands and wives both want experiences that are physically exciting and satisfying, while recognizing the underlying commitment and intimacy to what they do in their marriage bed. As one husband aptly put it: “Yes, we have sex, intercourse, coitus, I ‘know my wife’, we ‘do it, have a quickie… and whatever else you call it, but in all of those things (and many others) we are making love to each other.”

What will I call it in my resources?

I call it everything under the sun. I’m a writer, a crafter of words, a lover of language. I like using all the options available to me, as long as they are accurate and respectful. Since I don’t personally find anything problematic about having sex or making love, I’ll use both of those. But also sexual intimacy, physical intimacy, and any number of nicknames for The Deed. You can check out a few interesting euphemisms for sex here: What Euphemisms for Sex Do You Use?

But please know that I honor your desire for sex to be both pleasurable and meaningful. That is God’s design for sex in marriage—that both spouses feel good, feel connected, feel honored in this intimate experience.

When Women and Men Struggle to Communicate

Mansplaining.

I know from experience that just seeing that word caused different reactions among readers who believe it exists or doesn’t exist, who find the term accurate or insulting, who now feel understood or irritated. And while this doesn’t capture the whole picture, the line of who reacted how can be drawn between female and male.

If you’re a woman, you’re far more likely to agree “mansplaining” happens, to say you’ve experienced it, and to object to its use. If you’re a man, you’re far more likely to disagree that it happens, to say you haven’t seen or done it, and to object to the use of that word.

But what if I told you that women tend toward a communication style that really irritates men? Have you ever heard a husband say, “I wish she’d just get to the point”?

Well, he’s got a point.

Women are more likely to meander in conversation, sharing personal stories, including details, and checking for understanding as they speak. We often do this because it’s not the point that matters as much as the connection we feel from interacting with the person we’re talking to.

But that’s not how many men approach communication. So it’s understandably annoying for him when figuring out the takeaway feels like an impossible game of Where’s Waldo?

Yes, we’re different.

I’m not highlighting “mansplaining” and “womeandering”—yes, I made that up, and it should totally become a word—to get us upset about the opposite gender’s real or perceived communication flaws. Rather, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about how men and women discuss sensitive topics.

From blog comment threads to Facebook post replies to my own interactions with my husband, I’m reminded how much our distinct perspectives play into conversational conflict.

Men tend to be more to the point, even gruff at times, to offer direct advice, and to feel disrespected when their feelings or points are not acknowledged. Meanwhile, women tend to tell stories as a way to convey that someone isn’t alone, to offer more detailed advice, and to feel personally hurt when their feelings or points are not acknowledged.

What’s your communication style?

Does this describe all men and women? Of course not. As I often say, stereotypes exist for a reason, but they’re not all-encompassing. The gender continuum really looks more like this:

So you may identify strongly with what I said above (the ends), more in the middle, or in that overlapping part where you’re more like the other gender. Okay, fine. And just to be clear—not identifying with something labeled as men/women doesn’t make you any less masculine or feminine. God just made a variety of us. Still, it’s helpful to understand some generalities to communicate well with the opposite gender on social media and in face-to-face conversation.

And be sure not to take the stereotype for granted with your own spouse. Rather, ask your beloved which, if any, of the following common gender differences apply to them.

MEN WOMEN
Converse for information Converse for connection
Wants to get to the point Wants to share how she gets to the point
Talks more easily shoulder-to-shoulder Talks more easily with eye contact
Responds by offering solutions Responds by offering sympathy/empathy
Display less tone variation and gestures Display more tone variation and gestures
Views strong challenges as disrespectful Views strong challenges as insensitive

How does this apply to real life?

If you went back and read blog posts I wrote specifically to women and others specifically to men, you’d see a difference in how I communicate. I also change my approach in the comments section depending on who I’m dealing with, which includes what I can glean about their background and personality as well as their gender. Because men and women tend to respond differently to different approaches.

But too often, we forget this in regular conversation—here on my blog and in my Facebook group, but most especially in our marriages.

Indeed, I was flummoxed this past weekend when I said something I thought was helping my husband and he felt challenged and disrespected. I didn’t intend that, but looking back, I can see how it came across to him that way. The gap in perception was mostly about gender communication differences.

What’s the solution? Well, we each need to give a little. But the burden to adapt seems to lie more with the speaker. That’s what you see over and over and over in Scripture: commands and advice about how we speak to one another. Here’s a sampling:

  • Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity” (Proverbs 21:23).
  • Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless” (James 1:26).
  • Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones” (Proverbs 16:24).
  • Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen” (Ephesians 4:19).

We won’t get it right every time. It really is hard to put yourself in the other person’s shoes. But it’s worth trying, because by making that effort we show love and respect to others, avoid some unnecessary conflict, and experience our own personal growth as we become more other-focused and simply kinder in how we communicate.

What it all means when talking to your spouse.

Now scroll back up and look at the table on what men and women tend to do. This time, instead of seeing whether you identify with the gender you are, ask what your spouse is like and how you could change your speech to cater to their needs. What if you both did that? Wouldn’t your discussions immediately become more productive?

I’m working on this, and I hope you will too.

And if you’re looking for ways to have more productive conversations about sexual intimacy, check out my recent release, Pillow Talk: 40 Conversations about Sex for Married Couples.

Manifesting Money Using the Law of Attraction (It Works!)

http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/positivelypositive/positive/~3/qJ8tKXFyD1o/

Given the opportunity, everyone would love to accumulate more wealth, make more money, and live an abundant life. However, many people have a poor relationship with money. They have trouble manifesting money and wealth into their lives, and as a result, never achieve the financial success they desire.

The truth is that financial success starts in the mind and the number one thing holding many people back is their belief system concerning wealth and money.

With that in mind, leveraging the Law of Attraction is one of the most effective ways to change your beliefs about money into a belief system that will open you up to the prosperity that is all around you. But first, you must take some steps to really see it work to change your life.

1. Identify Your Limiting Beliefs About Money

In order to activate the Law of Attraction in your life, you must identify and change your limiting beliefs about money. Throughout our lives, since childhood, we’ve created limiting beliefs about money that we’ve internalized over time and accepted to be true.” You’ve heard these limiting beliefs before.

They’re things like money doesn’t grow on trees and is therefore extremely difficult to acquire, or the idea that money can’t buy happiness, or the limiting belief that you can’t be rich and be a good person at the same time.

Before you can begin leveraging the Law of Attraction, it’s important to first identify and address any limiting beliefs about money that you might have.

Once you see money for what it really is – an accessible, unlimited supply of a resource you can use in any way that you desire – it’s much easier to form the habits and mindset necessary to acquire wealth.

One great way to address any limiting beliefs about money is through the use of positive affirmations.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reKZVFsRBr4?rel=0&controls=0&showinfo=0]

For example, if you realize that you view money as something that is scarce and difficult to acquire, you could use a positive affirmation such as, “I’m a money magnet. Everything I touch turns to gold”.

Other positive affirmations you can use are, “I am releasing any and all negative thoughts and emotions about money, and am happy and free to visualize my dreams”.

Or, “I am creating all the money I want and need to accomplish everything I want to do in life.”

Try the affirmation, “I am making positive choices about what to do with my money and enjoying the energy of abundance that it reflects.”

What you say to yourself becomes what you believe, and what you truly believe becomes reality. By using positive affirmations to combat limiting beliefs about money, you can develop a mindset concerning money that enables you to leverage the Law of Attraction.

2. Visualize Your Wealth as if You’ve Already Achieved it

The Law of Attraction dictates that the things you believe inwardly and project outwardly will be the things that you attract into your life. If you want to attract something such as money, therefore, it’s important to visualize it as if you already have it.

Visualizing a world where you have all of the money that you desire not only creates a mindset that is more receptive to financial gain, it also enables you to imagine what your life will be like once you have reached your goals.

This, in and of itself, can serve as a powerful source of motivation that will keep pushing you forward when things get difficult.

Visualizing money as if you already have it can also create an abundance mindset, as opposed to a mindset of scarcity.

One of the big reasons why the wealthy have no problem getting richer is that they see the money they don’t have as something that is both abundant and acquirable, while at the same time, seeing the money they do have as a tool that can be used to make more money rather than something that has to be protected or saved.

This type of abundance mindset comes naturally when you have a lot of money, but it can also be developed by visualizing money as something that you already have in abundance.

If you want to create a physical anchor point for your visualizations, try carrying around a hundred dollar bill in your pocket.

Simply doing this can make you feel wealthier and prevent you from ever being able to say that you are broke – and thus prevent the limiting mindsets that go along with being broke.

3. The Universe Will Provide You With More

Finally, remember that the Universe will provide you with more of what you’re grateful for. Never underestimate the power of gratitude.

Ultimately, the things that you are grateful for will be the things that you tend to pursue with the most passion. Truly being grateful for something also tends to eliminate any limiting beliefs you have, and will make you more receptive to new opportunities.

As you go about adopting a beneficial mindset regarding money that enables you to leverage the Law of Attraction, and don’t forget about the importance of gratitude.

Be thankful for the money that you have. Be thankful for every opportunity you get to make more money, and be thankful when those opportunities pay off. @JackCanfield (Click to Tweet!)

Happily Book Review: Contrarian Advice for a Great Marriage

On Tuesday, we released another podcast episode on Sex Chat for Christian Wives, but this one was unusual: we hosted a male guest. Kevin A. Thompson is the lead pastor at Community Bible Church in western Arkansas, speaks at marriage and parenting conferences, and has authored two marriage books, including Friends, Lovers, and Partners.

I don’t know how I originally connected with Kevin, but I’ve read his blog for some time and interacted with him online. I’ve been impressed with his willingness to address tough topics from a biblical viewpoint. And he came at it again in his most recent book, Happily: 8 Commitments of Couples Who Laugh, Love & Last.

(Note: I received a copy of this book free from the author, but I promised nothing but to read it. My decision to write this review is entirely my own.)

Kevin starts by discussing our tendency tend to believe that happy and unhappy marriages occur through luck or by getting certain rules right, like “you must find and marry The One.” However, the real way to both avoid divorce and have a happy marriage is to embrace eight contrarian commitments he outlines in the book.

These contrarian commitments are Jesus’ contrarian principles for our lives, laid out in the Sermon on the Mount, the section we call the Beatitudes.

The First Commitment

For example, the first commitment is to Happily Humble Yourselves. Easier said than done, right? And yet, think how many marriage struggles are caused or exacerbated by our lack of humility. As Kevin says, “At the heart of nearly every marriage problem is pride,” but he also points out that “most of the people we meet who lack humility are not arrogant; we are insecure.”

What if we instead had a right perspective of ourselves in comparison to God? What if we understood our value, so we didn’t fall prey to insecurity, as well as our insufficiency, so we didn’t fall prey to arrogance?

What if both of you approached your next conflict with humility? And what if you approached your marriage bed and all the issues surrounding it with true humility—neither arrogant nor insecure? Wouldn’t you listen better, make your requests in a more loving way, pursue help more quickly?

The Second Commitment

Now take the second commitment he covers: Embrace the Hurt. What?! you say. I didn’t get married to get hurt!

Well, are you breathing and in relationship with anyone on this earth? Then welcome to some hurt. In our broken world, that’s how this goes. We will disappoint one another. But that does not mean you cannot have genuine joy, because hurt can result in healing and growth.

Kevin reminds us, “Marriage reveals our flaws and exposes our greatest wounds.” It’s the iron sharpens iron principle, which I discuss at more length in my devotional book Intimacy Revealed. That friction reveals our flaws and gives us an opportunity to improve ourselves and serve others.

Of course, there’s a big difference between the regular, inherent hurt we feel when our differences rub against each another and the pain of abuse. If you’re experiencing the latter, you do not happily endure that. Kevin states that we need to distinguish which pain is a caused by a problem not to be tolerated and which is the result of our imperfection and need for growth.

For those in abusive situations, seek help. Today. Now. Stop reading this blog post and go research abuse resources in your area.

For those in the regular conflict of marriage, Happily‘s prescription is to mourn the emotional pain we feel when let down by others. Which will inevitably happen. But then seek how to grow together through the hurt.

The Commitments & the Beatitudes

As you can see, these two commitments reflect the first two Beatitudes from Matthew 5:3-4:

  • Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
  • Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

The remaining six commitments do the same:

  • Happily Avoid Both Apathy and Aggression (“Blessed are the meek…”)
  • Happily See Marriage as Bigger than You (“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness…”)
  • Happily Refuse Power Struggles (“Blessed are the merciful…”)
  • Happily Live in Truth (“Blessed are the pure in heart…”)
  • Happily Make Peace (“Blessed are the peacemakers …”)
  • Happily Endure Whatever May Come (“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness…“)

Maybe some of those commitments surprise you, especially when paired with the word Happily.

Yet what made the difference in my own marriage when it was failing? Yes, I benefited a lot from specific resources that helped me work through issues in our relationship. My ministry is all about providing that kind of resource for couples who are struggling or simply want to improve their sexual intimacy.

But the key for me and my marriage was, through prayer and intention, living out biblical principles day to day: principles like those found in the love passage in 1 Corinthians 13, the Fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23, and the Beatitudes as covered in this book. Once you shift your attitude to that of Christ, you can make real progress in your marriage.

And as Kevin says, those who put in the effort to have a good marriage may feel lucky, but it’s because they put in the effort that yielded the blessings. I recommend this as a book for a couples to read together and discuss, but it’s also good for one spouse to read and put into practice. Check it out here:

Mike Pompeo Vows to Intervene in British Democracy to Stop Jeremy Corbyn

https://themindunleashed.com/2019/06/mike-pompeo-stop-jeremy-corbyn.html

(CJ Op-Ed) — An audio recording from a private meeting that was leaked to The Washington Post reportedly features US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo vowing to “push back” against surging British Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, and many are concerned that what he said sounds an awful lot like a top US official promising to interfere in the UK’s democratic process.

At a closed-door meeting with Jewish leaders earlier this month, one of the attendees asked Pompeo if Corbyn becomes Prime Minister, “would you be willing to work with us to take on actions if life becomes very difficult for Jews in the UK?”

Before I get to Pompeo’s response, I should interrupt myself to note that nobody actually believes that Corbyn would make life difficult for Jews in the UK. Anyone who claims to believe this is lying. Usually when you hear people regurgitating bullshit establishment lines they’re people who are acting basically in good faith, who are only spouting bullshit because they have been propagandized. Not so in this case. The idea that a man with a lifelong history of opposing bigotry is a secret antisemite who will facilitate the persecution of Jews if given the opportunity is a completely baseless smear campaign, and everyone knows it, including those who advance it.

The notion that Jeremy Corbyn advances antisemitism is literally just some gibberish the smear merchants made up to prevent the rise of a politician who threatens to upset existing power structures. It’s exactly as believable and exactly as legitimate as if British newspapers were constantly running headlines claiming that Corbyn is actually three children standing on each other’s shoulders inside grown-up’s clothes; the one and only difference is that they were able to make the antisemitism smear stick. Anyone who pretends to believe that Corbyn is a closet antisemite is exactly as honest and credible as someone who solemnly tells you, “I am very concerned about the fact that the Labour Party is led by a man who is secretly a cartoon mascot for a children’s breakfast cereal.”

So anyway, Pompeo is asked by some ridiculous twat what he’s going to do in the event of a Corbyn-led Kristallnacht, and WaPo reports on his response as follows:

Pompeo said, “It could be that Mr. Corbyn manages to run the gauntlet and get elected. It’s possible. You should know, we won’t wait for him to do those things to begin to push back. We will do our level best,” he said to fervent applause from attendees.

“It’s too risky and too important and too hard once it’s already happened,” he said.

This revelation, understandably, has kicked up a fair bit of chatter in merry old England.

“President Trump and his officials’ attempts to decide who will be Britain’s next prime minister are an entirely unacceptable interference in the UK’s democracy,” The Guardian quotes a Labour spokesperson as saying in response to the revelation.

“STOP: The Secretary of State Mike Pompeo just promised ‘Jewish leaders’ in the United States that he would stop Jeremy Corbyn coming to power here,” tweeted former British MP George Galloway. “Is this normal now? Is this what we’ve been led to? Is this good for Jews? For Britain? Really?”

“They did it in Latin America, Africa and Asia. Now the US government wants to overthrow democracy in Britain,” tweeted The Guardian’s George Monbiot. “Still waiting for a UK government spokesperson to express their outrage. Hello???”

“Hmm. Hard to spin this any other way: the US secretary of state secretly promises US Jewish leaders to prevent Corbyn from becoming UK prime minister,” tweeted British journalist Jonathan Cook. “Hard too not to suspect that the US is *already* helping to ensure Corbyn doesn’t become PM. Because the obvious implication of Pompeo’s comment is that the US knows it can damage Corbyn without leaving fingerprints at the crime scene — presumably through black ops, image management etc. The elephant in the room: Why assume the US isn’t already using those techniques?”

It is no secret that the DC establishment considers other nations to be its personal property and has no qualms about openly working to topple the governments of nations like Venezuela and Iran, but people aren’t accustomed to hearing this sort of language directed at white, English-speaking liberal democracies. Add in the fact that this is coming from a particularly reviled administration in terms of international optics and the likely public revulsion increases. The thought that this administration may decide the direction of UK politics would be all kinds of infuriating to the average pom.

So many questions need to be answered. Was Pompeo in fact saying that the US is intending to prevent Corbyn from becoming Prime Minister? And if so, how? What exactly does “push back” entail? Are we talking psyops and smear campaigns? Or something more? And whatever they intend to do, have they started doing it already?

These are all questions that we should be intensely curious about. If Corbyn is able to continue to rise, we may begin seeing some increasingly overt manipulations from many places we’re not meant to be seeing them as an ailing empire fights to hold itself together in the face of increasing public discontent. The more overt the guardians of the empire are forced to be, the more they expose themselves, and the greater that public discontent may become. Our rulers are in a very complex balancing act right now, and we’d all do well to pay attention.
