Focus on the Benefits, Not Difficulties, to Stay Motivated

Motivation is the key to reaching any goal. Motivation though, isn’t a constant thing. It ebbs and flows like the tide.

You’ll have periods of high energy where you’re very productive, and times when you are lethargic and work is very difficult.

The temptation to quit can be strong when your motivation ebbs. The key is to stick with it and the flow will come back.

Follow these tips to navigate through the ebbs and flows of motivation.

Overcoming Ebbs:

• Minimize and eliminate distractions and other obstacles. Everyone has distractions, no matter how organized they are.
Unhealthy food in the refrigerator distracting us when we are dieting is one example.
Get rid of the easy access distractions and temptations in order to keep yourself on the right path.

• Take note of what gets you off track. What caused the lapse? Figure out how to remove an obstacle or reduce its effect on your progress.

• Visualize your end result again. Sit down and think about every detail of your goal. For example, if you are going to write a novel, visualize yourself writing every scene and character, finishing the book and sending it to the publisher.

• Replace negative thoughts with positive ones. When your motivation ebbs, you might have a tendency to think negative thoughts, like “I can’t do this” or “this is too difficult.”
When you find yourself doing this, try to squash those thoughts and replace them with positive ones.

• Find a way to get excited again. What was it about the goal that got you excited in the beginning? Try to build on that to get through the ebb in motivation.

• Read about others who are achieving the same goal as you. Reading about it can inspire and re-energize you.

• Talk to friends and mentors when you hit a low spot. Find others who will cheer you on and help you get motivated again.

• Build on your past successes. Each little step you’ve achieved takes you closer to your goal. Look at each success to get you to the next level.

• Go back and look at the progress you’ve made so far to help you keep going.

• Plan in advance what to do when obstacles arise. Reread your list of reasons why you are going for your goal, for instance.

• Brainstorm new or more interesting ways to proceed towards your target when you become discouraged. Get help from a coach or accountability partner to guide you.

• Reward yourself when you hit a target or mini-goal. Rewards are something you can look forward to.

By breaking your goal into small tasks and rewarding yourself when you reach each one, you are less likely to become overwhelmed.

Motivation is necessary when you want to reach a specific goal. But your motivation won’t be a constant thing.

It will have many ebbs and flows along the way. Follow the above tips to help you get through the low times and enjoy the flows.

Can a Personality Test Help You Become More Self-Aware?

There are many tools that you can use to improve your self-awareness. Taking steps to learn more about yourself can help you choose the best career, relationships, and lifestyle for your personality, goals, and desires.

You can journal, hire a coach, meditate, and you can take a personality test. A personality test is often the first step that many people take on the path to a more self-aware life.

What Is a Personality Test?

A personality test is a tool that’s designed to reveal aspects of your character or psychological makeup – your personality. In most cases it’s a simple multiple choice questionnaire that you fill out.

When you’ve completed the test you’ll get a description of your personality. Some personality tests are more involved than others and provide a lengthier description of your personality.

How Does a Personality Test Help You Learn Who You Are?

Different personality tests focus on different components of personality. For example, the Princeton Review Career quiz is a fast, and free, quiz that gives you a list of suggested careers for your personality type.

However, unless you’re looking for a new career, a more generalized approach may be beneficial. For example, there is the Myers Briggs test, or the Keirsey Temperament Sorter, or the Enneagram Test which tells you which of their nine personality categories you fit into.

Taking a quiz like this can help you get a bit clearer on your strengths. It can also help identify your weaknesses. This is important information because it gives you a direction and it helps you make important decisions.

For example, let’s say that you’re an accountant and you’ve been living and working and feeling generally bored and unhappy. You take a personality quiz and it tells you that you have a creative personality. This may be something that you never realized or that you denied. You now have the ability to explore that side of your life.

You Make the Decisions

A personality test doesn’t necessarily tell you who you are and what you want. It doesn’t answer the tough questions for you. However, it can help you take the first step. An accountant that learns that he or she has a creative personality can decide whether to take action on that information.

Personality tests make you think about your strengths, weaknesses and who you are. You still have to do the work and make decisions for yourself. They just shine a light on the possibilities.

Can a personality test help you become more self-aware? Absolutely. But, they’re just the beginning of the process. If you want to live a more self-aware life then consider taking one of the more reputable personality tests available to you.

We listed three of the most popular earlier. They include Myers Briggs, Keirsey, and Enneagram.

You can take the first step today.

Nuclear War Survival?

Nuclear warfare (sometimes atomic warfare or thermonuclear warfare) is a military conflict or political strategy in which nuclear weaponry is used to inflict damage on the enemy.

Nuclear weapons are weapons of mass destruction; in contrast to conventional warfare, nuclear warfare can produce destruction in a much shorter time-frame and can have a long-lasting radiological warfare dimension.

A major nuclear exchange would have long-term effects, primarily from the fallout released, and could also lead to a “nuclear winter” that could last for decades, centuries, or even millennia after the initial attack.

Some claimed that the result would be that almost every human on Earth could starve to death. Other analysts however dismiss the nuclear winter hypothesis, and calculate that even with nuclear weapon stockpiles at Cold War highs, although there would be billions of casualties, billions more rural people would nevertheless survive.

So far, two nuclear weapons have been used in the course of warfare, both by the United States near the end of World War II. On August 6, 1945, a uranium gun-type device (code name “Little Boy”) was detonated over the Japanese city of Hiroshima.

Three days later, on August 9, a plutonium implosion-type device (code name “Fat Man”) was detonated over the Japanese city of Nagasaki.

These two bombings resulted in the deaths of approximately 120,000 people.

After World War II, nuclear weapons were also developed by the Soviet Union (1949), the United Kingdom (1952), France (1960), and the People’s Republic of China (1964), which contributed to the state of conflict and extreme tension that became known as the Cold War.

In 1974, India, and in 1998, Pakistan, two countries that were openly hostile toward each other, developed nuclear weapons. Israel (1960s) and North Korea (2006) are also thought to have developed stocks of nuclear weapons, though it is not known how many.

The Israeli government has never admitted or denied to having nuclear weapons, although it is known to have constructed the reactor and reprocessing plant necessary for building nuclear weapons. South Africa also manufactured several complete nuclear weapons in the 1980s, but subsequently became the first country to voluntarily destroy their domestically made weapons stocks and abandon further production (1990s).

Nuclear weapons have been detonated on over 2,000 occasions for testing purposes and demonstrations.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 and the resultant end of the Cold War, the threat of a major nuclear war between the two nuclear superpowers was generally thought to have declined.

Since then, concern over nuclear weapons has shifted to the prevention of localized nuclear conflicts resulting from nuclear proliferation, and the threat of nuclear terrorism.

Until Now!

What to Do When You Don’t Feel Empowered

Even the most self-assured and positive of us can have days where they feel emotionally defeated and out of control.

Being self-empowered isn’t a magic state of being that is achieved and never goes away. It’s an approach to life that needs constant work, assessment, and care.

When you have days where you’re not feeling empowered, it’s important to take extra care of yourself.

These are the days when you need a little extra support and attention. So let’s talk about what you can do when you’re not feeling in control over your life.

1. Pay Attention to Your Thoughts and Words

There’s a very good chance that some negative self-talk has crept into your thoughts.
Spend some quiet time being aware of your thoughts and actions.
How have you stopped treating yourself well?
What caused that change?

Awareness is the first step to regaining your sense of well being and empowerment.

2. Forgive and Move Forward

If you’re feeling out of control or a loss of empowerment, it may be because you’ve made a mistake or you feel like someone has harmed you.
It’s often best to forgive yourself for the error, or to forgive them, and to move forward.
Use it as an opportunity to learn more about yourself and apply that information to your future decisions and behaviors.

3. Treat Yourself Well

Forgiveness is part of treating yourself well. Depending on what has caused your recent situation, you might also give yourself a little extra room and time to regain balance.
For example, if you are feeling bad about your physical empowerment because you cheated on your diet, then forgive yourself and treat yourself to a healthy and positive meal that nourishes your body and your spirit.

If you made a mistake at work, you must forgive yourself and then treat yourself well.
Like by enjoying a hot bath or a run or something that brings you joy.
Some soft music or even an adult beverage if your so inclined.

4. Take Positive Action

Finally, there’s nothing that helps you regain your sense of empowerment like taking positive action.
When you’re having a difficult day, week, or month, identify what you can do to make it better and take action.

Even in the worst situations that life can throw at you, you always have a say in how you respond, react, and feel.

We get to control the thoughts we have, the actions we take, and how we respond to the world around us.

Self-empowerment means not forgetting that we are in charge of our lives.
Sometimes that can be easy to forget.

When it happens, become aware, treat yourself well, and take positive action to turn it around.

Nuclear War in 2017?

A nuclear holocaust or nuclear apocalypse is a theoretical scenario involving widespread destruction and radioactive fallout causing the collapse of civilization, through the use of nuclear weapons.

Under such a scenario, some of the Earth is made uninhabitable by nuclear warfare in future world wars.

Besides the obvious direct destruction of cities by nuclear blasts, the potential aftermath of a nuclear war could involve firestorms, a nuclear winter, widespread radiation sickness from fallout, and/or the temporary loss of much modern technology due to electromagnetic pulses.

Some scientists, such as Alan Robock, have speculated that a thermonuclear war could result in the end of modern civilization on Earth, in part due to a long-lasting nuclear winter.

In one model, temperatures following a full thermonuclear war fall for several years by 7 to 8 degrees Celsius on average. The accuracy of such models are often the subject of partisan dispute.

Early Cold War-era studies suggested that billions of humans would nonetheless survive the immediate effects of nuclear blasts and radiation following a global thermonuclear war.

Some scholars argue that nuclear war could indirectly contribute to human extinction via secondary effects, including environmental consequences, societal breakdown, and economic collapse.

Additionally, it has been argued that even a relatively small-scale nuclear exchange between India and Pakistan involving 100 Hiroshima yield weapons, could cause a nuclear winter and kill more than a billion people.

Since 1947, the Doomsday Clock of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists has visualized how close the world is to a nuclear war.

The threat of a nuclear holocaust plays an important role in the popular perception of nuclear weapons. It features in the security concept of mutually assured destruction (MAD) and is a common scenario in survivalism.

Nuclear holocaust is a common feature in literature and film, especially in speculative genres such as science fiction, dystopian and post-apocalyptic fiction.

You’ll also need to determine what brands and types of wine you are planning to collect. There are several options to choose from, including red and white wine.

You’ll also need to find some places with good quality and refinery to buy your wine from.

You can always participate in tastings and trade shows as well. Here, you can meet other people who are into wine collecting, and get to know local traders.

You should also strive to learn as much as you can about wine. You can learn a lot about wine on the Internet, or by reading magazines and newsletters dedicated to wine.

By doing so, you can also learn more about storage, buying wine, and even cooling your wine.

Check your local community college or community center for workshops.

Positive Thinking How Healthy Aging Starts

How to think positive

Many people wander the earth believing they the lack the strength and power to achieve their goals. This negative mechanism holds them down. You can gain motivation and live healthier, by simply telling yourself “I can do it.” Anything you put your mind to, you can do it if you want to.

How to tell self I can do it:
Just say today I am going for a short walk. Tomorrow I will walk a little longer then the first day. You have to be in control of your thoughts, actions, behaviors, etc by building your power of the mind.

Nevertheless, if you do not put your mind to it and you decide that you do not want to become active, and then you are only living a life filled with shortcomings. Your negative reflections will defeat the purpose of getting your thoughts in control.

Saying I will do it later, is another negative reflection. This is called procrastination, which leads to laziness. Laziness leads to weak muscles and joints, which gradually builds up to medical problems.

Take control of your thoughts. If you want to do something bad enough you will do what you have to do to get where you want to be. You need to make a goal and stick to it.

Create plans that help you to reach your goals, and take action each day to achieve. When you give up, it is a sign that you lack faith in self and is a clear indication of weakness.

You need faith to stay strong. As well as positive thinking to strive.

Good results:
Having a positive attitude will give you a jumpstart to a healthier life. Keep on pushing. Do not stop once you get started instead go until you reach your goal.

When times get hard and you don’t think you can go on just remember I –can- do – this always keep your head up and mind open.

Don’t dwell on something you can’t change, rather focus on the things you have power to change.

How to continue positive living:
To stay positive you have to admit your feelings and express them. If you feel depressed or frustrated, just say it aloud.

There is nothing wrong with showing emotions, providing you do not beat up your best friend physically to express those emotions.

Stay in control and express what you feel.

You have to talk about how you feel and don’t blame your self but try to figure out why you are so depressed or frustrated. Failing to discover your intentions or reasons will reduce your control, especially if you do not understand what you need or want.

Do not worry about the cause, rather find your wants and needs and the cause will come to you.

Here is some pointer that might help you to get where you want to be. You have to look for a good role model and become acquainted with their way of thinking positive.

Try to talk positive and avoid negative talk. Seek some support from friends and family.

Reward your self with a massage or listen to your favorite music. Make a plan and stay with it no matter what.

Just remember you can do whatever you want to do and keep your mind set for the good things and not the bad things. This will make you feel better and make you a happier person. If you’re happy, you will have a healthier life.

Don’t forget to create a goal. Don’t make the goal so high that you won’t be able to keep it, but make it so that you can meet your goals.

Aging and your Quality of Life

From the day we are all born, we age everyday. As a young person, we don’t think about the later years in our life.

We live in a very fast pace world today and it causes a lot of stress in our lives and as time goes on, the stress will affect us increasingly.

Everyone young and old, we all need to take care of our bodies and minds. By taking care of ourselves, it keeps us thinking, moving and helps prevent major illnesses such and cancer and many other diseases.

We all have to work at keeping ourselves healthy and there is no better time than right now. The younger you start taking care of yourself the better it is; by starting early your catching things before they have time to progress.

So right now, start of by eating healthy. Keep an eye on that diet and make sure your not overeating, but eat enough to get vitamins you need to have. A good multivitamin is a good way to start adding supplements to what you don’t get in your food.

Food doesn’t always have the amount of vitamins anymore like they use to, and that starts at the farmer’s level. Don’t blame the farmer for this because they are just doing their jobs the same way we all go to ours everyday.

The farmer has to add fertilizer, chemicals and even water to their crops to make them grow bigger, faster and for beauty too.

Adding all these chemicals eat up all the natural vitamins that you need. Water has chemicals in it too; one reason why your water needs to be tested at least once a year especially if you have well water.

Once the food is grown and ready to be shipped it is polished, coated to keep it nice and fresh looking during shipment, which is why this will take away some of the vitamins as well.

Try to eat as much, homegrown food as you can and not processed foods. Fresh homegrown food is the best, since you get natural vitamins.

A good multivitamin isn’t going to hurt anyone. It is known that people who take a multivitamin everyday are  in better health than someone who doesn’t.

Sometimes your doctor may want you to take extra vitamin, as we grow older because our bodies change and sometimes require more of something.

In addition, as we grow older our eating habits change and we don’t eat as much or we want to lose weight and don’t eat the right foods. Nevertheless, remember you can lose weight and still eat right.

As we grow older our bodies and mind change. All the stress we had growing up and continue through out our lives.

Relieve that stress as much as possible because it can do a lot of harm to us. Stress is known to be a major factor for poor heart conditions, strokes, and it will lower our immune system, as we grow older.

A regular exercise program is good for all ages and helps relieve stress at the early ages as well. If only families took time out maybe as a family with their children and made it a part of their lives that would help relieve it during the younger years.

A person who learns and enjoys exercising on a daily basis will keep during it, as they grow older as well.

Exercising will help the older person to keep those bones more flexible so they don’t get stiff and weak. The heart gets benefit from exercising too.

Exercise will cause the heart to produce naturally, by working it harder to keep it highly flavored. Exercising helps to keep our bodies toned up and helps us to lose weight, or at most keeping the weight maintained.

Remember starting early can help later in years to make your life healthier and more contented.
